“He’s not going to wait around for you forever,” Nino had said into his ear on New Year’s Eve.
He’d been watching Ohno from across the room, watching the smaller man smile and talk and enjoy himself. They’d caught each other’s eye more than once.
Nino’s words had shaken him, but not surprised him.
Bound by reluctance, by friendship, by other people and especially by fear, he’d been holding back and hiding for a long time. Expectations, his own and others’, relationships, more or less serious – he’d been hiding behind that, knowing and seeing how it affected others, how it affected Ohno.
Ohno was of the firm belief that love was love and if all he could get from him was friendship, then he’d be satisfied with that. He’d made that clear by standing by his side through rough break ups, through drunken calls and when he’d made sure that he got home from wherever he’d ended up.
Sometimes, he didn’t think he deserved Ohno.
Not when he was this scared.
But Ohno’s steady presence was constant, supporting him, and he was relying on that, more than he realized.
But now Nino had told him what he needed to hear.
“Satoshi-kun,” he said, grabbing Ohno’s arms and backing him into the apartment. Ohno made a surprised sound at the back of his throat, and he whimpered when he collided with a wall.
“I’m so sorry,” he said, hoping that it’d be the words Ohno needed to hear. He pressed closer and kissed Ohno, feeling the smaller man going rigid against him.
This wasn’t right. Ohno wasn’t responding.
Slender hands pressed against his chest, pushing him away, but he wouldn’t have it.
“I’m in love with you,” he confessed, letting Ohno breathe, and he watched as shock settled in before resignation did. “I love you.”
Ohno’s hands settled on the nape of his neck. “No, you don’t.”
He frowned. “I do! I really do! Listen to me, I’m in love with you!”
Ohno smiled sadly, petting his hair. “You’re so shitfaced.”
He was hurt. “I’m not! I’m really not, I just want you.”
Sighing, Ohno continued smiling that sad smile of his. “Let’s get you to bed and sleep it off.”
“I’m not drunk,” he resisted, “smell my breath.”
More or less unsettled, Ohno shook his head and held on to his arm, tugging gently at him and leading him towards the bedroom. He felt feverish where Ohno held him to guide him, and he watched as Ohno looked him over before reaching up to push his jacket off.
“I’m not drunk,” he repeated, grabbing Ohno’s wrists, denying the smaller man more actions.
Ohno looked so unsure in that moment that he regretted being so slow. He slowly leaned down, happy that Ohno didn’t flinch away, connecting their lips again.
Ohno’s resistance was crumbling, he was sure of it, but he knew he hadn’t ever given Ohno any reason to let him anywhere near him.
“I really do,” he whispered, pressing a lingering kiss on Ohno’s mouth. He looked at Ohno, “I’m just so scared.”
“I love you,” Ohno’s lips were parted a bit, his lips wet and glistening, raising his eyes so they could meet.
He felt like sobbing. “I’m so scared you’ll bail on me. Like, you’ll just stop or something.”
“I’ve been afraid of that for years,” Ohno revealed with a shaky voice. “It hasn’t happened yet.”
He kissed Ohno again, sucking gently on those pouty lips, coaxing him to respond, to kiss back. He could taste the reluctance, the fear of getting hurt, and he vowed to prove Ohno’s fears unfounded. He could be who Ohno needed.
And he set out with body and words to prove it, physically and emotionally, because with how Ohno had supported him for so long without expecting even a single word of gratitude, he knew he had a lot to do. It would take time to rebuild what he’d broken down and to build upon that would be even harder.
He might fall, but he had a feeling that Ohno wouldn’t let him fall too far.

Date: 2009-12-21 07:26 pm (UTC)BUT THIS. I'll take it as Sho/Jun. Sho calls him Satoshi-kun more often than not, but somehow images of Jun kept flashing in my mind. 8D Its good to use our imaginations.
