Chapter 6 – In which Nino promises to tell if he’ll ever hold someone hostage
*
When Nino had stuff to think about, he did what he did best – made bad guys suffer in his games.
Nino knew that Ohno wouldn’t be free today. Okay, he knew that Ohno might not be free today, because Sakurai Sho (the freaking newscaster) had said that some ‘Jun-kun’ and ‘Aiba-chan’ might show up.
Nino didn’t want to go to the gallery and then be dismissed, though he had a feeling that Ohno wouldn’t turn him away. But Ohno had looked so fond when he had talked about Jun yesterday, and it made Nino feel weird. Not in a good way.
He kicked himself for that. He hadn’t even known Ohno for two weeks yet, but they had already had sex more times than Nino had had in a year. It was also the best sex he had had all his life. No way he was going to say that to Ohno, though Nino suspected that the man already knew.
Smug bastard.
Who Nino also kind of missed. Okay, so he did. In less than two weeks, Ohno had managed to make Nino miss him. Nino didn’t miss just anyone or anything, except for the limited first press edition he’d had a few years ago of the first game Mario ever appeared in from 1981, but it had been squashed when he moved out from home. He really missed that. Point was, that Ohno had crawled under Nino’s skin in an annoyingly short time.
Nino paused the game and turned his head to look up at the umbrella lying innocently on the table.
“Shut up,” he said and grumbled, then glared at the umbrella. “No, really, shut up.”
*
“Are you Nino-chan?” An enthusiastic voice greeted him when he entered the gallery (no, Nino didn’t think he lacked spine, thank you very much) and Nino was kind of floored, seeing as he had barely set foot into the room.
Nino blinked. “Depends.”
The man grinned, “Captain says he and Nino have phenomenal sex.”
“It’s me,” Nino nodded, “if ‘Captain’ is Oh-chan.”
“I’m Aiba,” the man introduced himself with a large grin. “You’re cute~ Do you like kangaroos?”
“Only if they’re grilled enough.”
Aiba looked twelve kinds of horrified before relaxing into a grin. “Captain says you have a sharp tongue, but that you’re really sweet.”
“Oh, he says that,” Nino said, amused. “What else does he say about me?”
“That you’re an evil person that keeps stuff hostage.”
Nino blurted a laugh. “True, I do that.”
“Will you hold me hostage?” Aiba asked, his eyes large and round and excited, “I’ve never been a hostage before!”
“Unfortunately, no,” Nino shook his head, “I don’t hold people hostage. Not yet, anyway.”
Aiba looked disappointed. “Oh well. You’ll tell me if you start doing that, right?”
“You’ll be the first I call,” Nino promised solemnly.
Aiba grinned widely. “I can see why he likes you. Do you want to go to the new arcade? I heard it’s good.”
Something in Aiba’s eyes made Nino pause. It was gone before Nino could look closer.
“Captain is out with Jun-kun all day,” Aiba explained, “and I’m bored. Entertain me.”
It wasn’t as if Nino really had a choice, seeing as Aiba grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the gallery.

Spending the day with Aiba hadn’t been bad at all, Nino admitted when they were on their way back to the gallery. Aiba was loud and cheerful and he never stopped moving, but it was easy and light, and Nino really liked just laughing. That and it had been ridiculously easy to win against Aiba in just all the games they had played.
Spending time with Aiba had also meant that he got to hear about Ohno, how Aiba knew Ohno and all. Turns out that Ohno, Sho and Aiba had went to school together before they had parted ways – Ohno to an art school, Sho to study economy and Aiba was studying biochemistry. And after that, they had just stuck together.
Nino had purposely not asked about Jun and Aiba hadn’t offered.
"And when Oh-chan came back down, the oven had just short of exploded!”
A burst of laughter left Nino’s lips as he imagined Ohno’s dumbfounded look.
The laughter stopped short, however, when they came to a stop outside the gallery, and through the glass door, Nino saw someone holding Ohno close, their head tucked neatly over Ohno’s shoulder. But what really irked Nino wasn’t how intimate the gesture looked, or how firmly the stranger squeezed Ohno, but how Nino could see how tightly Ohno’s fingers held on to the man’s shirt.
