My Christmas has been incredible, cozy and loving and all those things Christmas stands for, heartwarming and wonderful. We did not get a white Christmas this year, all the snow disappeared during the day under the onslaught of rain and the storm that arrived at the end of the evening. It was good, though, staying inside and looking out on the terrible weather and concluding that nope, not going outside at all. Which is a blatant lie since I kept my dad company on the drive when we drove my grandmother home, but details! I got a truly incredible amount of gifts this year, which left me flabbergasted since I expected nothing whatsoever. My mother gifted me with a magnet bracelet earlier last month in an effort to counter some of my bodily ills. I mean, I have absolutely nothing to lose, so I figured I'd give it a try. So yes, I figured that was my present for this year, but I got a lot, small things, small awesome things, mostly things for all the baking I'm prone to do, which is *so* awesome! Crème brûlée, you just wait! Also, best present this year is from Gati, a beautiful picture from the airport when I left Brussels in November, so. That is definitely going up on my wall in the very near future. Getting a frame for it tomorrow <3

Fandom wise - Arafes leaked! No one is surprised! And I'm largely unspoiled! Hallelujah! What is this madness! My copy has been shipped, I expect it to arrive in the second week of January, so keep your fingers crossed for me, loves! The only thing I've heard is: "Ohno is goegous!" which, tell me something I don't know, really. I'm also writing, have gotten a lot done on Muses 11, so that's good and productive, but until my exams are done in mid January, I'll only be writing in my breaks, so I probably won't get anything done for a while :( I've watched absurd amounts of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings (watching Return of the King as I'm typing!) this Christmas, I really hope I'll be able to focus enough during my upcoming cramming-for-exam period of time during daytime so I can relax with a movie on the evenings. That is my plan of attack, yes. I normally have enough self-discipline to actually cram a lot, so I'm quite optimistic about things as they are.
Watched the finale of Merlin and it broke my heart and stomped all over the pieces of it, I can't with that show. It ended like it should, it's not that, it's just that it hurts. Had Gati on msn at the same time and all the tears, seriously, at points I couldn't even see the damn screen for the waterworks. Colin Morgan is a beautiful human being, end of story. As Gati and I agreed on; Everything is Merthur and absolutely everything hurts. Ow ow ow, my poor heart. Loving Merlin is like loving Kurt - it damn hurts so much, because they have painful arcs, so your love and faithfulness is rewarded by emotional torture. But yes, really, the end was painful but so good, it was everything I wanted from the show and the end. If the writers had decided to fuck with canon (yes, I am aware of the irony of that statement) in that regard at least, I would've been very, very sad. They did good, though. The emotional end of Merlin and Arthur's friendship was beautifully done. However, Mordred and Morgana's deaths were incredibly anti-climatic after everything, especially since they've been trying to kill Morgana for two seasons now and then Merlin just shoves Excalibur through her. And what the hell, why did Gwaine have to die? ;;__;; DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING. Also, Gwen continues to be a flawless queen while Leon (THE PRETTY *w*) helps her. And, well. Colin and Bradley are perfect. The end.
I watched Struck By Lightning, which is a very, very good movie and Chris Colfer remains a flawless person. So many amazing quotes, so many amazing lessons to take with you, and damn it all, after having bawled for hours about Merlin, I watched this movie and bawled at the end of it. Christina Hendricks is beautiful, Rebel Wilson is hilarious (and the vulnerability she shows in moments that call for it are amazing), and actually, the entire cast works beautifully together. It is not the best film I've ever seen, but it is amazingly well done and also, for Colfer's own work, his own writing, his own casting? I am in awe of his talent. You guys should really watch it, it's definitely worth spending 90 minutes of your life on. It's up for download on amazon and iTunes!
(Watched The Hobbit - it is a movie that I would love infinitely if not for the fact that Peter Jackson is close to pulling a George Lucas on it. Also, way too many orcs. Martin Freeman, though. Ian McKellen. DWARVES. ELVES. Yes. Is also smug I won't have to look upon Benedict Cumberbatch's face when it comes to that, or I would want to smack him. And when Legolas shows up in the next movie, I shall rejoice because he's awesome, but froth at the mouth that he's in it, because what the fuck is he even doing in the movie?!)
Also, for those of you for whom Gackt is just a weird guy with an equally weird, deep, nasal voice, I beg of you to watch this video. This is what he also is, he's an artist, he's a guy with music written into his bones, he does this thing with music that makes me shiver. This is not by any standard a spectacular piece of music - it's not a symphony, it's not a musical masterpiece score-wise, but it is emotional and beautiful in its simplicity, and Gackt knows how to make Ren's cello, You's violin and his own piano sing together. It's my favorite piece from him, and for those of you who's been visiting my journal for some time, it's the name my journal bore for years.
