Drabble: Oraya 16

It's seriously cold here and I can't tell you enough how glad I am that I'm not going to work this weekend. My head is already dying from the cold T___T

In other news, Technicolor is coming along nicely 8D

And this piece is longer than 15 was, I promise :)

16.

Aiba was whirring with excitement, but Nino was a bit skeptic. The Oraya had been less than inclined to talk to Jun the last time Nino had brought someone else into the room with him, and he hoped that Satoshi would, maybe, talk a bit to Aiba.

He greeted the Oraya with a nod and Aiba walked in behind him, keeping quiet for once.

“Aiba Masaki,” the Oraya said lowly when Aiba bowed, and to his credit, Aiba didn’t look too startled even though Nino knew he was thinking how did he know his name?

“I’ve brought you food,” Nino said, stepping closer and placing the plate in front of the creature. “As long as you won’t tell me what you need to eat, you’ll have to eat this, Satoshi.”

The Oraya wrinkled its nose before tentatively taking some of the bread. “You cannot give me what I need.”

“How do you know that?” Aiba asked, intrigued, and Nino prayed that Satoshi wouldn’t clam up.

“You wouldn’t want to give it to me,” Satoshi corrected, taking a bite of the bread.

“Does it have something to do with your magic?” Aiba continued, eagerly.

The Oraya looked amused. “Humans are so fascinated with magic.”

Humans. The word stuck out sorely in Nino’s thoughts as he processed what Satoshi had said, and he frowned.

“We’re fascinated with what we don’t have or understand,” Aiba returned readily.

“Does that give you the right to hunt and kill us?”

Nino cut in. “Of course not. That’s why Matsumoto-kun brought you here, to make sure you don’t fall into slavery again.”

For the first time since the Oraya had started talking to them, it looked upset. “Imprisoning me here isn’t saving me.”

“Isn’t it better than a life with the gypsies?” Aiba asked, and Nino nearly told him to bite his tongue.

The black eyes glittered almost dangerously. “I’d rather die than stay in here.”

Rather than tough, I just think that humans are amazing at adapting. It sounds horrible to say that you get used to pain, but that's just how it is.

I kind of know what you mean. Life is about adaptation, after all. Either you accept it, or you out!

When my doc said I had photophobia, he told me to stay at home as much as possible, because ray lights would damage my eye-sight and blah, blah, blah. He wanted me to lock myself in my house, WTF!? I never liked to wear sunglasses, but now I'm quite comfortable with them and at least, I get to go outside without major problems!

Aaaah, I see. I have a friend who's photophobic, too, and she was also basically told to stay home forever and ever. She just said "screw it" and she does like you do, with sunglasses and stuff^^

But as I always say; my body may be weak, but I am not. That's just how life is.
